1. Remove the excess
Clutter begins to appear most prominently when we own too much stuff. Thus, the fewer items we own, the easier it is to keep clutter at a minimum. The first (and most important) step in keeping your home clutter-free is to remove the excessive possessions that are stealing our lives, time, and energy.

For instance, clean up your Junk drawers full of unneeded items (rubber bands, old batteries, or old keys) and decorations that are no longer meaningful and/or outdated.
2. Slow the accumulation of possessions
To live is to consume. It cannot be avoided but if the influx of possessions into our homes can be slowed, clutter can be managed efficiently.
To slow the accumulation of things in our homes, evaluation of our purchases is crucial. Before making a purchase, we must keep certain questions in our mind such as:
· Is this item really needed?
· Do I have a place to store this when I get it home?
· How much extra work will this possession add to my life?
· Am I buying it for the right reasons?

3. Donate
Good deeds don’t need an occasion. Designate a particular bag to donation and keep it in your closet. Whenever you spot something you don’t use or wear, place it in the bag. Wait until it’s full before taking the bag to your charity of choice. Try this; I am sure you will feel good!

4. Stop hoarding
This idea isn’t about owning a certain number of possessions but keeping that number roughly stable over time. You can always add items you need but don’t buy anything you don’t need unless you truly love it. Go for either small decorative items or useful ones (such as a cuddly blanket is better than a collection of cuddly decorative stuffed animals).
5. Bins and baskets
Before you buy any organizing product, make sure you’ve decluttered as much as possible and organized using what you already have. If that’s not sufficient, research the right type of organizer before you buy it. However, people who love the idea of organizing are usually drawn to every type of box, container, and shelving unit that promises to get their lives in order. Yet those very items, especially if bought without forethought or in large quantities, can create even more disorganization and clutter.

6. Pack away out of season clothes
For the clothes and accessories that are out of season you can find an alternative place for that like the top of your wardrobe or under your bed. That way, it will not only free up your wardrobe space but will also help you in choosing your outfit of the day faster.

7. Finally, maintain the habit of cleaning and organising
Sometimes what looks like clutter is just the sight of necessary items scattered around a room in a disorganized way. To keep a space looking neat, keep all your shoes, books, plates, and so on in one or two particular places, and always return them there if they end up elsewhere. This especially goes for smaller items that tend to get cluttered such as remote controls, makeup, toiletries, batteries, pens, and pencils. Containerize them so they are always stored in the same spot. Placing daily-use items (clothes, books, toys) back in their designated homes. Develop for your family healthy habits today to manage the daily use of the things in your home. Once identified, you’ll find them much easier to implement.
